The Disorderly Orderly (1964)

When he flunks out of med school, Jerome Littlefield goes to work as an orderly in a private rest home where he wreaks havoc for everyone concerned. Dr. Jean Howard is the exasperated head of the sanitarium who almost becomes a patient after the antics of the frantic employee. When talkative patient Mrs. Fuzzibee happily and continuously relates her maladies to Jerome, he hilariously has psychosomatic symptoms that mirror those of the nutty woman. He discovers that his high school girl of his dreams, Susan Andrews has been brought to the sanitarium after a suicide attempt. He secretly pays for the destitute young woman’s stay while helping to restore her confidence and self respect, much to the jealousy of his girlfriend, Julie Blair, a young and pretty nurse who has high hopes of becoming the future Mrs. Littlefield.

The Family Jewels (1965)

Nine-year-old Donna Peyton is orphaned when her father dies and leaves her with a $30 million fortune. Her late father’s attorney, John Wyman, explains that she must visit each of her six uncles (all played by Jerry Lewis) and decide which of them will become her new “father.”

One of the most underappreciated comic actor/writer/directors. In “The Family Jewels” he attempts to play every single member of a family of brothers…and pulls it off successfully. All these Lewis characters are funny and quirky, and this movie is consistently entertaining all the way through. Note the similarites between the voice of the airline pilot Peyton brother and the voice of Paul Reubens’ Pee-Wee Herman. The plot here involves a young girl who must live with one of her uncles, and her search for the uncle she likes best. But that’s mostly an excuse to let Lewis show off his incredible comedic character talents. Sometimes downright cartoonlike.

The Stooge (1952)

Dean is an unsuccessful broadway performer until his handlers convince him to become an act using a stooge - a guy already positioned in the audience and picked by Dean to be the butt of his jokes - Jerry Lewis. But Jerry begins to steal the show, and helps keep Dean on his toes. Dean’s girlfriend and pals tell him to make Jerry an equal partner. Complications occur, while Dean sings and Jerry gets the laughs.

The Patsy (1964)

When a star comedian dies, his comedy team, decides to train a nobody to fill the shoes of the Star in a big TV show (a Patsy). But the man they choose, bellboy Stanley Belt, cant do anything right. The big TV show is getting closer, and Stanley gets worse all the time.

An office boy is turned into the great new sensation - a ‘patsy’ of a committee of old timers. Jerry Lewis is Stanley Belt, a clumsy, dumb kind of a man who seems the perfect fall guy to generate income for those pulling the strings.
A strong supporting cast - Everett Sloane, Peter Lorre, Keenan Wynn, Phil Harris, John Carradine - shine in support of Lewis; while Ina Balin provides decoration and a love interest.
‘The Patsy’ is slightly self-indulgent and presents both the best and the worst of Jerry Lewis, although when it is funny, it is well worth watching - the piece where Lewis sings on television is hilarious.
If you’re a Lewis fan, don’t miss. If you’re not, perhaps this isn’t the one to start with. If you have no feelings either way, it is a pleasant way to spend an afternoon, with some general interest for film buffs.

The Ladies Man (1961)

After his girl leaves him for someone else, Herbert gets really depressed and starts searching for a job. He finally finds one in a big house which is inhabited by many, many women. Can he live in the same home with all these females?
It’s spotty with its gags (what Lewis film isn’t?) but it looks fantastic and the gags that work are hilarious…good sight gags with Buddy Lester, some funny surreal stuff (the lipstick on the painting, the butterfly collection and that great white room sequence with Harry James’s Band and Miss Cartilage)..Lewis’s reactions to “Baby” are a scream…even the opening titles bit with LOOK magazine is funny… ..downsides…well, the ad libbing with Kathleen Freeman doesn’t always work and the serious story with Pat Stanley could be excised (for the better).

The Delicate Delinquent (1957)

Sidney Pythias (Jerry Lewis) is the a bumbling janitor picked up by cop Darren McGavin as a teenage gang member worth saving from delinquency. With McGavin’s help, Sidney works his way through the Police Academy to become a cop too.
Jerry Lewis plays a janitor called Sidney Pythias, who is hanging up with wrong kind of people.With the help of a cop called Mike Damon (Darren McGavin) he goes to the police academy to become a policeman.Delicate Delinquent from 1957 is Jerry’s first movie without Dean Martin, but he does nice job as solo. This isn’t Lewis’ greatest works, but it offers some great moments.Watch the movie if you want to be a cop or if you just like Jerry Lewis.

The Bellboy (1960)

Stanley is a bellboy at the Fountainbleau Hotel in Miami Beach. It is there that he performs his duties quietly and without a word to anyone. All that he displays are facial expressions and a comedic slapstick style. And anything that can go wrong - does go wrong when Stanley is involved. Then one day, Jerry Lewis, big star, arrives at the hotel and some of the staff notice the striking resemblance. Stanley continues to do what he was hired to do while star Lewis has more trouble with his entourage than the hotel accommodations.

Inkheart (2008)

Mo has the special talent to bring characters out of books. One night he brings out three characters from Inkheart, a story set in medieval times and filled with magical beings. Capricorn and Basta, two villains, and Dustfinger, a fire-eater. Now, 10 years later Meggie discovers the truth and it’s up to her to escape Capricorn’s evil grasp.

Mo Folchart (Fraiser) drags his daughter Meggie (Bennet) all around the world completing his skilled work as a ‘Book Doctor’, otherwise known as a bookbinder. At their most recent home, an old enigmatic acquaintance of Mo’s, named Dustfinger (Bettany), shows up and, in a very rare moment in their relationship, Mo talks to Dustfinger in private. All of a sudden, the next morning, Mo packs up and leaves with Meggie without telling her what is going on, a very strange thing in their relationship. They travel to Meggie’s Great Aunt Eleanor’s (Mirren) house to stay and Meggie finds herself, once again, surrounded by books (Eleanor is rich, and collects rare books. She calls them her children, and she has thousands of books in her library).

Taxidermia (2006)

Taxidermia, being of the most grotesque pictures I have seen, is nontheless a brilliant and symbolically powerful work. The continuously revisited motiff, being beastiality and the animal nature in all humans is depicted through many explicit scenes to cause the viewer discomfort. The end result - acknowledgement of the trueness of the film. It trails the lives of three generations of men with no self respect, no common sense and all living abnormal lives. Though they all meet their end, they all frame themselves in the same negative fashion as the previous one. With photography as artistic as many renowned directors, Gyorgy Palfi manipulates the Mise an Scene to convey messages of emotional magnitude and deeper meaning. A film which is difficult to sit through, but still highly recomended. Not for the lightest of stomachs.
